Dry mechanical render and thin panel pinning
Special short versions of DryFix are available for repinning separated, unstable and potentially dangerous loose render and thin panels. These lengths include 50, 70 and 90mm.
Render, when applied to tower blocks, is often done so by means of a splatter dash application, which is then painted or covered with small tiles to achieve a waterproof finish. Typically, render is applied to a thickness of 20-65mm. Breakdown of the bond between the render and back-up material can occur for various reasons but once delaminated it is likely to become increasingly unstable, resulting in cracks and bulges. These in turn encourage water penetration while wind loads tend to loosen the render even further. Mosaic tile finishes on sand and cement beddings can easily become loose and fall away from the substrate. Thin panels, often natural stone, and applied to achieve similar aesthetic and waterproofing ends, may also peel from the substrate over time.
Installed in the same way as standard DryFix ties, repinning offers a simple solution to the problem of stabilising rendered and panelled facades, and a far simpler and more cost-effective solution than is offered by traditional methods such as hacking off and re-rendering or chemical anchoring with large pins.
DryFix ties may also be used to secure Helifix stainless steel Render Mesh to provide a fully reinforced render solution if re-rendering is required.

Load the tie into the Power Driver attachment (fitted to an SDS hammer drill) and drive it into position until the outer end is recessed below the outer face. Ties may be installed at an angle using an angle-faced Power Driver attachment. N.B. If replacing render, drive ties into the back-up material at an angle to the predetermined depth. Fit Helifix Render Mesh over ties. Bend tie ends as necessary to hold mesh in place. Apply render.
