Manufacture and Design
Helifix design principles
Helifix manufactures its stainless steel ties, fixings and reinforcements to its own unique hi-fin helical design.
The Helifix design matches a helical profile, engineered to maximise the surface area available for bonding, to a slim central core gauged to provide each tie and fixing with impressive compressive and tensile strength while allowing for easy installation.
In the dry fix setting (as applies with the DryFix and RetroTie systems) the helical fins allow each tie to cut a self-tapping path into even very hard materials, including reinforced concrete, while the slim central core ensures that each tie can be installed through the smallest of pilot holes. When installed, the hi-fin/small cross-section combination enables each tie to work in sympathy with natural building movements.
In the wet fixed setting (as applies with the installation of HeliBars, BowTies, CemTies and ResiTies) the pronounced helical fins provide clearance spaces around the central core material so that these can become fully surrounded with grout or resin without workmanship difficulties.
UK Manufacture
UK manufacture, product reliability and quality assurance
Helifix manufactures its stainless steel ties, fixings and reinforcements to ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance requirements in its own UK-based factory.
Each stainless steel purpose-designed product within the range is manufactured to carefully monitored, exacting standards.
Products are manufactured under tensile loads. This ensures that any material flaws that may be present in the base material can be exposed and eliminated at the point of manufacture, thus guaranteeing the quality and reliablity of the final product.
Ties are manufactured from austenitic stainless steel, grade 304 and grade 316 as standard and to a variety of profiles, diameters and lengths.
Helifix ties and fixings are:
- Austenitic stainless steel.
- Simple one-piece products.
- Purpose-designed for specific applications.
- Precision engineered to a unique helical design.
- Independently tested and approved.
- Manufactured under the ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance scheme.
- Sufficiently flexible to accommodate normal structural movement.
- Rapidly and easily installed.
- Fully concealed once installed.
- Able to produce excellent holding power in brick, block, stone, concrete, timber and local materials.
- Suitable for all types of masonry structures from housing to tower blocks, churches to bridges.
- Ideal for historic and listed buildings.
- High quality, effective, reliable and economical.
